Mary Elizabeth Richardson Tripe was born in Christchurch in 1870. She graduated from Wellington School of Design in 1890 and subsequently taught there, becoming well known in the 1890s, especially for her portraits.
Mary Elizabeth Richardson Tripe was born in Christchurch in 1870. She graduated from Wellington School of Design in 1890 and subsequently taught there, becoming well known in the 1890s, especially for her portraits.
Tripe was commissioned to paint a portrait of a World War One Victoria Cross winner in 1920. She died in 1939.
