Survey of Public Sector IM now delivered biennially

Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga Archives New Zealand (Te Rua Mahara) will now deliver our public sector information management (IM) survey biennially instead of annually. The next survey is due in 2024.

For the past four years, Te Rua Mahara has surveyed the public sector IM practice. We have done this to better understand how organisations are performing against the requirements of the Public Records Act 2005 and to understand what IM practice looks like in public offices.

By surveying every two years, organisations will have more time to work on improving their IM practices before reporting back and it lessens the annual reporting load.

As part of the upcoming 2022/23 Chief Archivist Annual State of Government Recordkeeping report we will report on trends from the surveys delivered over the past four years.
