The findings report complements the key indicators for the survey reported in the recently published Chief Archivist’s Annual Report on the State of Government Recordkeeping.

Regular surveys are one of the core components of Te Rua Mahara o Te Kāwanatanga | Archives New Zealand’s monitoring framework, alongside the new Information Management Maturity Assessment and the resumption of Public Records Act audits.

The findings report highlights several areas for improvement across public sector IM. These range from informing outsourced providers about their IM responsibilities, to building IM requirements into business systems, to actively maintain the usability of digital information with long-term value, and removing roadblocks to regular, routine disposal.
