Tāhuhu Thursdays – tour of the new Archives building Plaza
For our April Tāhuhu Thursday session Tihei Director and Pūkenga Toi, Rangi Kipa and Boffa Miskell Landscape Architects, Michael Hawes and Megan Walker gave a virtual tour of the new Archives building Plaza.
Rangi, Michael and Megan spoke of the Plaza brief and designs, the co-design process, concept development and the stories that inspired the final design work, technical aspects and challenges. They described the backlit pipi shells, kumara mounds and cascading terraces, and how the Plaza will enhance and connect with the new Archives building and the future heritage campus.
Hinerangi Himiona was the MC for this session and led the questions from kaimahi for the presenters.
