This interactive tool helps you prepare for a transfer of digital information and records (digital records) to Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga Archives New Zealand, in line with the Public Records Act 2005.

Identifying eligible digital records for transfer
This section is about compliance with the Public Records Act and making sure your digital records qualify for transfer.
You need authorisation from the Chief Archivist to dispose of public information and records. This is called a disposal authority.

To be eligible for transfer to us, your digital records need to be accurately sentenced.

You need to make decisions about access to information and records before you can transfer them to us. All decisions to restrict public access must be made in consultation with the Chief Archivist and formally documented in an access authority.
